Software Tester

We are seeking an experienced Software Tester to join our fast-growing and highly successful Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) division here at TGW Northern Europe.  

Our WCS Division is responsible for the implementation and support of the Warehouse Control System (TGW Commander) and associated products for TGW’s clients. Our teams work across the full project life-cycle which covers pre-sales, solutions design, technical development, testing, implementation, documentation and post go-live support (including enhancements and upgrades).

As a Software Tester, you will be responsible for testing the WCS software against the business and technical requirement specifications. You will analyse and review requirement documentation and write detailed test specifications

Whilst the role involves predominately manual testing, there is a view to develop test tools and automated test scripts longer term to support regression testing efforts, therefore you will be given the opportunity help with the automation project and with helping drive wider improvements. 

Your role will also involve infrequent travel across Northern Europe to meet with clients and help run Factory Acceptance Testing for stakeholders.

  • Test case and specification design from product backlog items and requirement documentation
  • Manual testing of the WCS software
  • Analyse defects and log them in Team Foundation Server (TFS) with as much information as possible to support developers
  • Leading Factory Acceptance Testing on projects with the customer
  • Taking a lead role in testing on a project, self-starting and able to work under own initiative
  • Become an expert on the requirement specification and the processes in the WCS
  • Run and create queries in SQL over an Oracle database to support testing, troubleshooting and software installation
  • Creation and modification of test data in XML
  • Work closely with development team to see defects through to closure
  • Participate in all scrum meetings (stand up / reviews / retrospectives etc)
  • Support the Test Manager in providing and gathering data to report on and control test progress
  • Update and install WCS and supporting software on virtual test environments and update configuration as required
  • Assist with documentation of processes and best practices for testing
  • Contribute to the development of the standard automation pack using Coded UI in Visual Studio with Specflow

Key Requirements

  • You will be an experienced Software Testing professional who has the ability to lead testing for a project.
  • Familiarity with industry testing tools such as Visual Studio, Test Manager, Selenium, QTP, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills – ideally, you would have worked in a client/customer-facing role previously.
  • Basic understanding of SQL or Oracle databases – e.g. writing queries.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Able to create and modify data in XML.

  • ISEB/ISTQB Certified in Software Testing.
  • Experience of SpecFlow / Cucumber or related BDD automated test framework.
  • C# programming experience.
  • Previous experience of working within an AGILE environment.

Following this, there will be a 2nd stage interview which will meet with the IT Director and you will also undertake a practical written testing exercise.
